About The Wedding
I attended a late afternoon wedding where the couple chose the pool-side area of the master suite in a Thailand themed resort.
The suite was an isolated 2 story Thai style villa with a huge master suite and 4 additional bedrooms. The back yard had a nice size private pool and a hot tub for 12 people.
When looking at options for small wedding ideas, a pool-side party is truly a fun way to celebrate the best day of your life.
Instead of walking down an aisle, the groom and bride walked along the poolside towards the altar. The ceremony was held next to the pool and the guests surrounded the pool as spectators. Once they were declared husband and wife - the party began!
Loud wild music! Dancing alongside the pool, and once the alcohol kicked in - the party and dancing expanded into the pool- The food was served buffet style on the lawn of the villa where the tables were set up (without place cards which kept the atmosphere casual). The party went on for hours and as time went by the older guests left and only the couple's friends stayed to party all night long till we all fell asleep early in the morning!
Since they had the villa for 2 nights - we all stayed there till the following day (leaving them with one night to themselves) and had the best time ever! I still remember that great pool side party and always recommend the concept when I'm asked about original small wedding ideas.
Rather than putting emphasis on table decoration, small conversation permitting flower arrangements were used and the major emphasis was on decorating the pool. The standard pool light bulbs were changed to colorful light bulbs and large floral arrangements were designed and built onto Styrofoam. These were floated on the pool creating a special and effective look.
